One day I suddenly met my conscience. I said " What's the matter ? These days I hardly ever see you ! " Hearing me, my conscience brust into  laughter. It said, " Earlier you used to keep me in the mirror, And I too would find the chance To sting you from time to time. Last time, I had wished to say -- O Mother, grant me the strength to gift my wife a new sari, to clothe my child in fresh attire -- But the words never left my lips. Instead,within my heart I prayed O Slayer of Demons, do not falter in Your battle ! Yet even that remained unsaid. And when You arrived ,Mother, Your Presence filled me with such joy That I forgot everything else.
