(A poem on Umiam Lake of Meghalaya ,India) Though today the sky is cloudy, Light and shadow softly play. Umiam ---- around you gathers A fair of trees in green array. A gentle breeze flows calm and sweet, Waves rise with a murmuring sound. My soul finds peace beholding you ---- As though someone lit joy all around. At the call of birds, My heart longs to drift away. My eyes are filled with your beauty --- I wish to return someday. Last time, I had wished to say -- O Mother, grant me the strength to gift my wife a new sari, to clothe my child in fresh attire -- But the words never left my lips. Instead,within my heart I prayed O Slayer of Demons, do not falter in Your battle ! Yet even that remained unsaid. And when You arrived ,Mother, Your Presence filled me with such joy That I forgot everything else. Fool number two Knows that smoking kills, oh dear, Still  lights a bidi, puffing cheer. Fool number three Cries, " I'm weak,I'm poor,I'm small," Makes a victim of it all. Fool number four Spends his savings , what a case --- On another man's  wife's necklace ! Fool number five Even dying, loudly cries ; " Shankara, you must survive ". Fool number six Truth is simple,clear,and plain --- But his tongue's locked up in chain. Fool number seven Dances to each gossip word, Boasts the loudest ,most absurd. Fool number eight Morning,evening ,sits and chatters, Talking nonsense,nothing matters. Fool number nine Shivers at his  wife's call She's the general, he's small. When the ripple of his laughter lingers, Ask yourself -- Do your cheeks raise the same wave in time ? Make sure the words  Flowing from your lips Carry a trembling note of servile joy. Match your passive smoking To the boss's active puffs ---- Strive for balance there. Soften your oily body language, Mixing it well with  studied sweetness. Fate + Effort = Result Fate  + Effort + Flattery =  Good  Result Aries : Marital quarrel.Don't Whine,just meow. Taurus : False trouble . Shake off the dust with your own horn. Gemini : Signs of love and affection.Kiss the pillow with dreamy eyes. Cancer : Pleasant company ahead. ,Sweet words,but pockets  run dry. Leo : Communication brings gains.Skip the roaring , try a little buttering up. Virgo : Scope for honour. Time to beat the drum loudly. Libra : Troubles abound. Act coy and speak silly words. Scorpio :  Misunderstandings.Don't break your heart , break the marketplace with your shouts. Sagittarius : Heavy expenses. Strictly avoid trips  with your beloved. Capricorn : Gain ahead - whether it's money,a bruise, or the final good bye --something's surely waiting with your  name on it ! Aquarius : Risk of slander.Better spill the beans first yourself. Pisces : Accident - prone.The biggest accident is -- you still exist.
